Australian Children's Book of the Year Award - Picture Book of the Year
The first Australian Children’s Book of the Year Award was made in 1946. At that time and until 1952, there was but a single category of award.
In 1952 a category for the picture books was created, a Younger Readers category in 1982, the Eve Pownall Award for Non-Fiction in 1993, and the Early Childhood in 2001.
The awards for 1952, 1953 & 1954 are not listed on the website.
There were no awards given in 1955, 1957 or 1959 – 1964, 1966 – 1968, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1981 or 1985.
