The Australian Children's Book of the Year Awards - Shortlists, Finalists and Commendations

  1. Note: The Picture Book of the Year Award was established as a separate award in 1952
  2. Until 1982 there was no division between Older and Younger Readers.
  3. The Eve Pownall Award for information books was presented by Eve Pownall’s family in 1988, then by the Children’s Book Council from 1993.
  4. The Early Childhood Award was introduced in 2001

**This List does not include the winners. They are listed on their own separate Lists.

Some books are listed more than once. This is because they were shortlisted for separate awards or in separate years.
