I Love Pop Culture theme: a list of movies that were widely viewed, praised, awarded, and so forth. In short, if you lived in the period then you watched these movies. (There is a bias towards movies in English.)

Back To The Future 3... — 3 years ago

was actually released in 1990. Sorta fair to credit the entire series as being part of the 80s, but you know, technically…

3 Men and a Baby — 3 years ago

Can someone add this one? It was huge and of course, very pop.

Footloose — 5 years ago

not sure how to add a movie, but Footloose is missing and really should be on it.

Great list overall!!

Ahhh...the 80's — 5 years ago

Definitely some stuff missing. I’ll have to go back and add a few for sure, but reading the list was one hell of a trip down memory lane. Couldn’t remember if I’d watched some of these or not so I guess I get to re-watch a few if I have.

Untitled — 5 years ago

Well I think you got most of them. I was thinking about “The Color Purple” but then again, I don’t think it was so big in its time.

Great list — 5 years ago

I added a couple more, hope you don’t mind (they are good ones!)

May add some more when they come to mind.

GREAT list! — 6 years ago

Hi Kalavinka!!

Hope you don’t mind, but I added 23 movies. I LOVE this list, but couldn’t help sharing a few of my favorites that didn’t make the cut. I didn’t edit them to put them in alphabetical order in case you wanted to keep the list like it was.

Thanks so much!

Take care,

Tanya

Ahh.. — 6 years ago

the 80s, best decade for films, yet I wasn’t even born yet! Absolutely love the 9% of these films I’ve watched. Mainly teen ones like breakfast club, ferris, bill and ted and the like. Just watched flashdance. Why arn’t movies these days so good?

My God! This list makes me feel so very old! Also, I can’t believe I actually watched “Howard the Duck”.
