The Criterion Collection (Alphabetical List) (DVD only)

Established in 1984, the Criterion Collection is dedicated to gathering together the "important classic and contemporary films" from around the world. The volumes they publish (originally as laserdiscs, switching to DVD in 1998) are known for their extremely high quality transfers and abundance of supplemental features. They have done much to set the stage for the ubiquity of multi-disk and "special" edition DVDs today, but continue to rise above most other releases and produce what are considered to be the definitive editions of some of our greatest films.

Note: This list is alphabetical as opposed to spine label. It does not include box sets as these would be duplications of other titles.

"alphabetical" — 5 weeks ago

I spent quite a bit of time tonight tidying up the “alphabetical” this list promises. Except for page four, where I got tired. I am pretty positive that the Italian titles in the “I” section are misplaced. As in “I Vitelloni” should be in the “V” section. “I Fidanzati” should be in the “F” section. “Il Posto” in the “P”s. Maybe someone can move those? I ran out of steam.

Also, I don’t know how to fix the title line for “Ivan’s Childhood”?

This list leaves out movies that were in the criterion collection but only on laserdisc or VHS.

Hasn’t been updated for several months. Haven’t put it all in alphabetical order, but will eventually unless somebody else gets to it.

is the list in a random order? or in order of release by criterion? just asking since it’s getting long and it’d be easier to find specific films if it was alphabetical.
