Again, on the same lines as Mestnyigeroi; yet another insular list that reinforces Hollywood dominance + too much mediocrity. I think lists should open up new horizons; there’s a whole world out there waiting to be explored, with something for everyone- why stay in a little box? Still, i suppose half a dozen here not in English may be a starting point for many?

Eh. — 3 years ago

I certainly agree with many of those, but on the whole the list seems to reflect a bold commitment to the bland and the middle-brow.

Most ridiculous is the near total ignorance of world cinema, with Asia most notably making huge strides in the last 25 years.

This list is a comforting massage for insular consumers of U.S. pop culture and little more.

Still, I’ve added it! :0)

List Complete — 3 years ago

All 100 films now listed.

Yes it is really 102 films as EW specifically listed The Lord of the Rings trilogy as #2.

All EW lists are grist for animated dispute. For me, the omission of The Princess Bride, truly a new classic of romance and comedy, is unthinkable.
