The Barbara Gittings Literature Award (as opposed to the Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award).

The Stonewall Book Awards are sponsored by the American Library Association’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Round Table and are awarded to English language works having "exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered experience."

There was a tie in 1989.
