100 favourite books for 100 years of Library service

As part of the Ottawa Public Library’s 100 th anniversary celebrations, the OPL and several corporate sponsors and media partners presented a fun and interactive online contest to identify Ottawa’s 100 favourite books.

662 people voted for 634 books between Sunday, April 30 and Saturday, May 13. During this period, library cardholders could vote for their favourite book three times or vote for their favourite fiction, non-fiction and children’s book.

The results are in! Here is the list of Ottawa’s 100 favourite books:

Note: Camus’ L’Etranger (a.k.a. The Outsider/The Stranger) is on the list twice, once in English translation and once in the original French.

I goofed! — 6 years ago

All I wanted to do was correct the then #93 from “Thursdays with Morrie” to “Tuesdays…” But instead I deleted the whole entry. If anyone knows how to repair this list, please do! (And why were there only 97 books on this 100 book list to begin with?)
