These are a few of my favorite places to get a burger in DC, from shabby chic, slumming it steakhouses, and chefs with too much time on their hands. Arranged, for the most part, in order of personal preference.

Not only do they have a very good beef burger, their lamb burger was also quite tasty. More options than any of the others, and competitive with Ray’s Hell in terms of user satisfaction. I’ll have to go back to Ray’s Hell, or order the burger at Ray’s the Classics, for comparison.

For populist/ March madnessist in you, the Washingtonian does a burger tourney
It suffers from being a ‘web voting’ thing, so it isn’t that useful for determining what you should think, but at least the bracket itself is subject to editorial control. For example, they had Five Guys take out Fuddrucker’s early, which is for the best. These kind of surveys have problems.

The Washingtonian has a new article discussing DC’s Burger-off,
in a trio of reviews for Good Stuff, BGR and Ray’s Hell.
Most notably, they say there is a potential Michel Richard burger joint in the works.

I haven’t had much luck going through the only other burger list I’ve found on LoB, GQ’s Burgers to Eat Before You Die, since most of the restaurants aren’t exactly near my daily commute. So, I’ve decided to try to make the most of the DC area and get a handle on where the best burgers are. I think I know where most of the best pizzas can be found, so maybe I’ll work on that next. Followed by sushi, perhaps?
