Leah's "Books read in 2009"

I’m trying to read 50 new books in 2009.

And I did it, though they are ridiculously out of order now. What I learned:

- I really really like Agatha Christie. Poirot more than Miss Marple

- Q&A is a magnificent book, and it’s a pity they Hollywood-ified a magnificent story to turn it into Slumdog Millionaire, which is a good film in its own right, but for me still reeks of hollywood. Maybe it was talked up too much for me, which leads me to…

- After all the hype about the Great Gatsby, I didn’t think it was that great (no pun intended) – and I analyse any book that I read

- I don’t like studying literature as opposed to the English I did at school, which was my favourite subject

- All Australians who think John Howard was a brilliant economist should read Ozonomics.

- Dickens is a better storyteller than Bronte, even if I don’t like his writing that much

- Everyone should aspire to be like Stargirl
