Is it that they are all doomsday warnings about technology gone bad?

I can think of alot of other films with biology in them that don’t fit that – microcosmos, travelling birds, grizzly man (this was about a guy who went nuts really), the wild parrots of telegraph hill, awakenings, baraka…

oh wait, outbreak wasn’t about technology-related problems, so maybe i’m wrong.
