Tarrador's "Netflix Movies 2009"

Add to my lists | Print this list

All the movies I rented and watched from Netflix. I exclude most movies I watch on HBO or TV, unless they are special films I sit down deliberately to watch (no channel surfing). I can include movies I go to the theater to watch as well.

This is Tarrador's list. Only Tarrador can edit it. You can make your own version of this list.

Body of Lies — 37 weeks ago

This movie was not bad. There were some intruiging elements, suspenseful moments, double crossing plot twists. We get to see DeCaprio do his thing, which he is getting better at with each film. Crowe was so comfortable in his role as the amoral CIA handler with his Virginia accent it is hard to remember him as anything else. The ending was a little too neat and pat, too fairy tale. But overall a good film.

X-Files: I Want To Believe — 37 weeks ago

I can’t tell what the motivation for this story was. It was like an overlong episode from the series. As movies went it was only average, just with the usual X-Files angst thrown in. The story was hard to make sense of, then finally devolved into very predictable scenarios. I am okay with Duchovney and I love Gillian Anderson, but both were wasted in this slow moving morass of a mystery.

Nights in Rodanthe — 37 weeks ago

Nicholas Sparks strikes again. When we hope for happy tales of broken hearts mended and differences overcome, we get a big plateful of angst, second-guessing, and dont know what you got til its gone. Nights in Rodanthe carries none of the sensuality or charisma that otherwise makes Diane Lane so interesting to watch. She looks throught the movie like we feel watching it tired and frustrated. And just when things turn a corner and we start to fall victim to this sentimental slop, some one dies.

The Librarian Series — 37 weeks ago

The Librarian movies are as tacky and short on depth as any made for Sci-Fi movie. But this was a campy, fun, lighthearted series that knew not to take itself too seriously. Noah Wiley was neither iconic nor trend setting in this role, but he approached it with the spirit the series deserved. Compelling? No. Nerve-wracking? No. Fun and high-spirited? Absolutely.

Chocolate — 38 weeks ago

Worthwhile, up to a point. While the actions scenes were very well choreographed and the young woman who played the lead was very dynamic, the movie overall was nothing special. 100% predictable, video game plotline, cardboard characters. The repetition of the lead female’s performance, a cross between the chick from “The Ring” and Rainman, grew tiresome. Was interesting to learn she spent a total of four years training and choreographing and filming this movie.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 — 39 weeks ago

Okay, not really a movie, but definately on a par with some trilogy films. I couldn’t handle anymore Sci-Fi commercials, or trying to keep up with new episodes for 4 months. Glad I watched the series, but how relentlessly dark a show this is.
