Bad Cinema Society's "The Worst Films of the 20th Century"

Add to my lists | Print this list

On June 16, 1998, the American Film Institute announced its choices for the 100 greatest films ever made. The group called its list 100 Years, 100 Movies. To no one’s surprise, just about everybody in America disagreed with the titles on the list. Anybody can make a list of great movies. We [The Bad Cinema Society] thought it would be helpful if a group had the guts to put together a list of the all-time worst films. So, about a month after the AFI announcement, the Hastings Bad Cinema Society announced that it too would be making an "end of the century" list, but the 100 movies it planned to "honor" would all be stinkers.

List needs cleanup, does anyone have the source? — 13 weeks ago

The link to the original source is dead, and the list has got 126 movies on it instead of the 100 it claims to be in the intro. Does anyone have the original list? Can this one be cleaned up?

Huh? — 29 weeks ago

Why is Titanic up there?

What?! — 33 weeks ago

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the greatest movies of all time, horror or otherwise. Just more proof that mainstream society will always hate on horror and only horror fans should judge the genre.

They put the original on but not the f*ing remake?! WTF!?

NBK? TCM? WTF? — 41 weeks ago

While I agree that many of the films on this list are complete garbage. I must ay that Natural Born Killers is one of favourite films of the nineties and Texas Chainsaw Massacre is on of the greatest horror films ever made!!!!.

This list may be random, but .. — 1 year ago

It really puts into perspective just how many Police Academy movies you watched when you were a kid.

The answer is 4.

Untitled — 1 year ago

this list is garbage, just a randomly generated set of titles

This list sucks! Some of my favorite movies ever are on here!

A random list — 2 years ago

I am very pleased by some of the choices on here, but on the whole I agree with others that it is a fairly random and not-well-considered list, no matter what the criteria for ‘bad’ were.
As for me, I thought Ace Venture When Nature Calls was an amusing movie, and I thought the two Gods Must Be Crazy films were good.
Some of the Cheech and Chong movies listed actually hit their lowbrow target very well, and the Blair Witch Project was a fairly deft experiment in minimalist horror.

Are You Crazy!!!! — 2 years ago

This list is the worst I have seen yet. Some of my all time favorite movies are on here. Most of the lists I have looked at at least come close to my opinion. Oh well, I guess anyone can make a list, but this “Bad Movie” list is really BAD!
