Bad Cinema Society's "The Worst Films of the 20th Century"

Add to my lists | Print this list

On June 16, 1998, the American Film Institute announced its choices for the 100 greatest films ever made. The group called its list 100 Years, 100 Movies. To no one’s surprise, just about everybody in America disagreed with the titles on the list. Anybody can make a list of great movies. We [The Bad Cinema Society] thought it would be helpful if a group had the guts to put together a list of the all-time worst films. So, about a month after the AFI announcement, the Hastings Bad Cinema Society announced that it too would be making an "end of the century" list, but the 100 movies it planned to "honor" would all be stinkers.

Titanic included! Yay! — 22 weeks ago

So glad to know that I’m not the only one who considers this type of movie making horrendous!

Untitled — 1 year ago

What an utterly ridiculous list.

Worst. List. Ever. — 1 year ago

While many of the movies are bad, many of them are undeserving of this list. My biggest problems are as follows:

1. Ace Ventura 2 is not that bad. It’s stupid, but just try watching it without laughing your ass off.

2. Attack of the killer Tomatoes is supposed to be bad, and thus should be exempt from this list.

3. The Blair Witch project is a modern horror classic, a new style of film making that has been praised. It is genuinely freaky, and remember: what you don’t see is scarier than what you do.

4. The only Cheech and Chong movie I agree with is The Corsican Brothers: that one is unfunny. But the rest are at least mildly funny, and are definitely very undeserving of this list.

5. The Friday the 13th films I agree with, except for the first. Is it included as the series, or is every movie listed separately? that would be just stupid.

6. The first Pokemon Movie is actually pretty charming for a kids movie, definitely not deserving of this list.

7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a horror classic as well, and redefined the limitations of a horror movie.

8. Titanic’s inclusion is simply baffling. i don’t have to explain why.

9. Star Wars: Episode 1 is not at all bad, just sub-par. if the original trilogy is 4-star terrain, than this is certainly only 3 stars, not terrible at all.

10. I’m assuming that the movie series’ are listed as a series, because each one being listed separately on the actual list is just stupid

List needs cleanup, does anyone have the source? — 2 years ago

The link to the original source is dead, and the list has got 126 movies on it instead of the 100 it claims to be in the intro. Does anyone have the original list? Can this one be cleaned up?

Huh? — 2 years ago

Why is Titanic up there?

What?! — 2 years ago

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the greatest movies of all time, horror or otherwise. Just more proof that mainstream society will always hate on horror and only horror fans should judge the genre.

They put the original on but not the f***ing remake?! WTF!?

NBK? TCM? WTF? — 3 years ago

While I agree that many of the films on this list are complete garbage. I must ay that Natural Born Killers is one of favourite films of the nineties and Texas Chainsaw Massacre is on of the greatest horror films ever made!!!!.

friday the 13 th — 3 years ago

the 1st was good and so was ace ventura. some of the movies on this list are the best.

This list may be random, but .. — 3 years ago

It really puts into perspective just how many Police Academy movies you watched when you were a kid.

The answer is 4.

Untitled — 4 years ago

this list is garbage, just a randomly generated set of titles
