Annie Award for "Best Animated Film"

Add to my lists | Print this list

While the Annie Award has recognized outstanding contributors to the field of Animation since the early 1970s, beginning in 1992 an award for best animated feature was added.

There have been few surprises. "Cats Don’t Dance" beat "Hercules" and "Space Jam" in 1997. "The Iron Giant" won out of a very strong field in 1999. "Kung Fu Panda" was a surprise winner over "Wall-E" in 2008.

The Annie has been dominated first by Disney’s Renaissance films of the 1990s (5 wins, none since 1998) and currently by Pixar films (7 wins).
