The "Culture Shock" Books

Add to my lists | Print this list

This series of books by various authors describing main characteristics of different people around the world and how very different and very funny our cultures can be, how weird, curious even "sick" our ways might be thought of by others. Knowing the differences helps understanding and harmony between people. These books are particularly useful if visiting a country for a longer period, working there or when marrying across the borders. If more politicians would read THESE books – we would have VERY fewer wars I am sure! Accepting (or just recognizing) differences is more than half the way to making peace!

I expect that very FEW read a lot of these books but whoever reads one of them realises the purpose, who reads a few realises how diverse the WORLD is. Who reads 20 of them should easily help the embassador to their country. Who reads half be sent to the UN to represent their country. Who ever reads all of them should be nominated as Global Embassador or even General Secterary! Before I read my next 100 novels, I will build my library rather on this.

Also, learn more about yourself! If someone has not read the book in this series on their OWN country, they will not know why they are laughed at when travelling!

You will notice two different cover designs in the series. The country title on black at the bottom and picture s in the series text above is the design for the NEWER editions. How do I deal with that in the future?
