fish_beauty's "Fishb - Films/TV for teaching my ASD kid about social interaction & communication"
Children on the autism spectrum are fascinated by the complexities of social interaction but usually these interactions in the real world occur at too quickly of a pace for the children to feel competence.
Consequently, TV and films are ideal choices for letting the ASD kid study the elements of social interaction. In particular, silents, with their slower pacing, (sometimes) exaggerated emotions, and intertitles, are wonderful tools to help the ASD kid study mechanics of interpersonal communication.
