Add to my lists | Print this list

The first Australian Children’s Book of the Year Award was made in 1946. At that time and until 1952, there was but a single category of award.

In 1952 a category for the picture books was created, a Younger Readers category in 1982, the Eve Pownall Award for Non-Fiction in 1993, and the Early Childhood in 2001.

Note: The 1988 award was funded by Eve Pownall’s family.

No further awards were made until 1993 when they were funded by CBC of Australia.
