"Hitchhiker's Guide" and hair-splitting — 2 years ago

Is it fair to include Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy since it originated not as a book but as a radio play?

Treasure Island — 2 years ago

I can’t believe this classic book and its subsequent film adaptations aren’t on the list.

Flags of Our Fathers — 2 years ago

Don’t have time now to add it, but one that’s missing is Flags of Our Fathers, by James Bradley.

The Three Musketeers - classic added — 2 years ago

I’ve just added The Three Musketeers (1948) to the list on id 245. That’s the original classic – still worth consuming, I might add.

sorted — 2 years ago

The list is now sorted by original book author, followed by the films that have been based on it. This should make it much easier to spot duplicates and figure out what films based on books are not on the list.

While sorting out the list, I deleted a few duplicates and made some corrections.

Memento — 3 years ago

The movie “Memento” is not based on the book by Muriel Spark. Chris Nolan adapted it from his brother Jonathan Nolan’s short story “Memento Mori”.

Lolita — 3 years ago

I added the book and both movies to the list

under the tuscan sun duplicate — 3 years ago

under the tuscan sun was added to page 18 but I deleted it as it was already listed on page 14. I might have even added it myself, I just can’t remember.

I realize this list needs to get organized in some fashion but right now I am not sure of the best way to do it (by original work title? by original work’s author?).

Plus, the way listsofbests is set up right now, reordering things is messy and there is quite a large chance of losing the order of connectedness. (Films based on books will most likely become separated from their original source book.) If this happened it would require a lot of research to set things straight again. (This list did get out of order due to a listsofbests error when I was first creating the list and it was a huge pain to sort it out.)
