Doctor Who Televised Episodes
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series produced by the BBC. It is one of the longest running programmes in history lasting originally from 1963 to 1989. In 2005 it was revived and has continued to present day. As of this season (5th of the new series, or 31st when counted as a continuation), 768 individual episodes, including the television movie, have been aired, encompassing 212 stories so far. In addition, numerous charity and connecting mini-episodes have aired.
Except for a few instances, the original show was comprised of individual stories which were then broken up into 25 minute televised episodes that ran very much like a serial, however, this system was scraped in the new series in favor of a modernly self-contained episodic format, with the occasional multi-part story, lasting on average about 45 minutes each. Specials are a bit longer, with a runtime of 60 minutes, and the mini-episodes are no longer than 10 minutes.
Included here are all 223 stories (and specials) that make up the televised canon of the Doctor Who universe. In addition, the charity and connecting mini-episodes are listed as well and placed accordingly.
Each entry is denoted first by season (S), then by story number (hereby noted as "episodes" and marked as (E), and finally, by its title. The original 700+ episodes are not listed, as they make up the stories themselves. In the event that a new series story or special has multiple parts, the entry will include a,b,c, etc… next to the episode number to mark as such (ie: E166a).
Otherwise, each is noted as such:
S = Season number
E = Story or "episode" number
Sp = Special
ME = Mini-episode (charity specials)
TVM = TV Movie
Note: Many of the earliest episodes from the first two doctors (William Hartnell/Patrick Troughton) are lost due to the BBC’s early habit of junking tapes during the late 60s/early 70s. However, many restorations have been made using complete audio tracks, publicity stills, and even snippets of remaining footage. What ensues is either a complete or partial reconstruction of the story itself. Since this is the only possible way to currently view these stories, I would reccommend their viewing be counted as a completetion of an entry on the list. Otherwise, there is no possible way to finish it.
