New York Times - Best 1000 Movies Ever (2004 ed)

Add to my lists | Print this list

As the source says, "This list is drawn from the second edition of The New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made … edited by Peter M. Nichols and published in 2004."

Actually, there are a few more than 1000 on the list, perhaps because some were listed more than once—for example, Little Women of both 1933 and 1994 are listed.

My Musical! — 6 years ago

Where’s Little Shop of Horrors? That musical ROCKSTHEHOUSE! Maybe I should just stop complaining and add it to the list.

Where's Shawshank?! — 6 years ago

I was shocked to see that Mary Poppins somehow made the list but not The Shawshank Redemption.
I was very glad to see One Flew Over the Cuukoos Nest, Thelma and Louise and The Purple Rose of Cairo. I’ve always thought that The Purple Rose of Cairo was a very overlooked movie.
I’m only 3% done with this list. :(

The Butcher's Wife? — 6 years ago

I think you’re looking for The Butcher Boy.

Pages 16-18 are now really jumbled — 7 years ago

That’s what I get for trying to go back and fill in the correct versions of some of the movies I added. Arrrgh. Re-ordering is excruciatingly slow, so I’m just going to move on and add the rest of the titles. Sorry.
