Top 300 Fiction Choices for Adults - 1999

Add to my lists | Print this list

Back in September 1999, The Express (a UK newspaper) published an article listing the top 300 fiction choices for adults, together with top 200 books for children. I have kept hold of the pages from the newspaper, and thought I would make an LoB list to check my progress.

I have no idea who chose the titles mentioned in this list, the article does not mention the selection process.

For the Top 200 Books for Children go here: http://www.listsofbests.com/list/78532-top-200-books-for-children-1999

NOTE:

Although it seems like I have listed 303 titles, please be aware that A Dance to the Music of Time by Anthony Powell, is mentioned in the article as one novel, but today’s publishers seem to be releasing it as 4 separate titles or "movements", and so I have listed the four titles separately (Items 238 to 241).
